High beam
High beams are the most powerful lights in your car. Use them as often as you can when it's dark outside. Full beam usually makes you see better, but sometimes it can be the other way around: because they are so bright, they can dazzle other road users. If you are driving in heavy fog or snowfall, try switching to low beam and see if visibility improves.

Hazard warning lights
Usually use the same lights as the regular indicators (the difference is that all lights flash at the same time) and should be used during emergency stops or similar. During towing, hazard lights may be used on the vehicle being towed, but this is not a requirement. However, be aware that it may cause confusion when turning.

Fog lights (front fog lights)

Emit a brighter light than dipped headlights and are therefore particularly effective in fog. It is permissible to use fog lamps instead of dipped-beam headlamps during daylight, but never to combine the two. At dawn, dusk and darkness, only dipped/bright lights are legal. In the dark, it is only permitted to replace dipped headlights with fog lights if there is fog or if it is raining heavily.

Rear fog lights
A very bright red light is used to ensure that vehicles behind you can see you clearly when visibility is severely reduced. The rear fog light is dazzling, so it should be switched off as soon as you judge that the vehicle behind has seen you.

Hazard warning lights
Are used to make the car visible. When it's daylight and visibility is good, daytime running lights can be used instead of dipped headlights. Not all cars have daytime running lights. It is forbidden to combine daytime running lights with dipped or fog lights.

Parking lights
To be used when stopping or parking your car in poor visibility. This is so that other road users can see the car. Parking lights are energy-efficient and can usually be left on for many hours without draining the battery.

Brake lights
Are red lights that come on when the brake pedal is depressed and are always brighter than the tail lights.

Tail light
Is a white light that comes on when you put your car in reverse.

License plate light
Comes on automatically and illuminates the license plate.

Lighting in all its forms such as work lights, tail lights, LED lights, auxiliary lights etc.
