The design of the car was designed by Ken Greenley. The car has a double-cab pick-up version called Musso Sports. The SUV was produced from 1993 to 2005 and the pick-up from 2002 to 2005. In Geneva 2018, SsangYong's new pick-up, with the Musso nameplate, was unveiled. It features SsangYong's new body-on-frame platform, which it shares with the SsangYong Rexton.
