Flexible CANBUS interface for connecting extra lights Volvo XC60 from 2018-. The CANBUS interface works just as well if you instead want to install a led ramp or other extra lighting in front.
Canbus interface - Auxiliary light Volvo XC60
The CANBUS interface provides the control signal to your external relay kit, which means that the auxiliary lights are started together with the car's main beam. If the car is equipped with adaptive main beam, this function will also be included in the auxiliary lights or the handrail.
Installation of the Volvo XC60 auxiliary lights is specific to the car's electrical system. The CANBUS interface needs contact with the CAN HI and CAN LO functions to be able to read when the car's high beam is activated.
The CANBUS interface has a hidden LED next to the connector that indicates the status of contact with the vehicle as shown below:
Solid red: CANBUS interface has contact but the vehicle is not identified
Flashing red: the CANBUS interface is in contact with the vehicle and checking the vehicle status
Solid green: CANBUS interface is in contact and the vehicle is identified
Flashing green: the CANBUS interface is in contact and the vehicle is identified, and the CANBUS interface indicates that the vehicle is moving
From the CANBUS interface you get 5 cables with the following functions:
- RED - Connects to +12V from the car battery/plus pole (fused 5A)
- BLACK - Connects to a ground point / negative terminal on the car battery
- WHITE - Connects to CAN HI (connection point specified in the installation instructions)
- BLUE - Connects to CAN LO (connection point specified in the installation instructions)
- PURPLE - Connects to external relay input 85 (control current/relay switching), providing +12V (maximum 1A)
